East Sheen Lodge was an eighteenth century house on
the west side of Sheen Lane, with grounds extending to Richmond Park.
Its residents included the 1st Duke of Fife who married Princess Louise
in 1889. It was by a pond in the garden that her brother,
the future George V,
proposed to Queen Mary.
