Highways and Byways invites the reader to explore the ancient fields, passages and footpaths, waterways and open spaces which have shaped Barnes over the centuries. It also traces the changes to transport and communications which have gradually transformed a small quiet village into a pleasant London suburb. But it is the many otherwise unrecorded aspects of Barnes that will delight and surprise the reader, even those who feel they know the place well.
The original edition was published in 1992 but has been out of print for several years. This new edition has updated the text to reflect recent developments, reviewed the illustrations and introduced new colour pictures.
